Does Braum’s sell more than dairy products?

Yes, Braum’s is three stores in one! The Braum’s Grill serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner, 7 days a week. The Braum’s Fountain serves hand-dipped ice cream cones, and other spectacular ice cream creations like sundaes, banana splits, malts and more made right before your very eyes. Braum’s Fresh Market offers a full line of “Fresh From the Farm” dairy products, bakery products made each day in the Braum bakery, over 150 fresh meats, fruits, and vegetables, and so much more.

Do you make all the products sold in Braum’s stores?

We make all the ice cream, milk, and dairy products including dips, sour cream, cottage cheese and more. We also offer a full line of bakery products including buns, loaves of bread, scones, cookies, cinnamon rolls, cakes, and muffins (just to name a few). In addition, we offer many products in our grocery department that are custom-made with our own recipes and made to our specifications.

Are the items sold in the grocery department the same as those sold in the restaurant?

Yes. There are a few differences caused by packaging limitations. Whenever possible, it’s our goal to enable customers to purchase items in the grocery department like ice cream, hamburger buns and ice cream cones from the Braum’s bakery.

Why is Braum’s milk so much better than what you buy in the supermarket?

Braum’s raises and milks our own private dairy herd seven days a week on the Braum Family Farm in Tuttle, Oklahoma. Most companies buy raw milk from outside sources so that by the time the raw milk is delivered for processing, it’s already several days old. At Braum’s, it may take only 36 hours to get the milk from the cow to your neighborhood Braum’s store. It doesn’t get any better than that! Braum’s special processing system fortifies the reduced fat, low fat and fat-free milk naturally by concentrating it, making our milk richer, thicker, and better-tasting! Learn More About Our Process.

Why is your Fat Free Skim Milk so much better than grocery store milk?

We vacuum process our milk through a Mechanical Vapor Recompression (MVR) Processing System. Braum’s MVR is 4-stories high, weighs approximately 80,000 pounds and is made of stainless steel. The vacuum MVR Processing System makes it possible to process milk at a low temperature causing a water vapor or steam to be released. This water removal varies from 28,000 – 40,000 lbs. per hour depending on the type of milk being processed. In an hour, 9000 gallons of regular fat-free skim milk goes through the MVR Processing System and 6000 gallons of Braum’s Fat-Free Skim Milk comes out, ready for bottling! Another advantage of Braum’s unique MVR Processing System is taste. By processing the milk at lower temperatures, you eliminate the possibility of having a “cooked” flavor. By removing this water from the product, the milk is condensed or concentrated naturally, thereby automatically raising the levels of nonfat milk solids. Braum’s Skim Milk is fat-free and has 50% more protein, calcium, niacin, riboflavin and other essential nutrients than regular skim milk! So not only does it taste better, it’s actually better for you! (And it’s 100% natural!) It takes 3 gallons of regular skim milk to make 2 gallons of Braum’s Fat-Free Skim Milk.

Do you make lactose free/Acidophilus milk?

No. With the development of medications to accomplish the same thing, many dairy companies have ceased making lactose free/Acidophilus milk.

Do you have gluten free products?

We do not have a list of gluten-free products. However, any ice cream without a baked product in it would be gluten-free. Example: Our Cookies and Cream, Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough and Brownie Fudge Sundae flavors have baked products in them and would not be considered gluten-free.

Do you have MSG free (Monosodium Glutamate) items?

Most items we have are MSG free and under the new “Labeling Laws”, if an item contains MSG, it must be listed on the label.

Why can’t I get a particular Ice Cream flavor whenever I want it?

At the Braum’s Processing Plant, we can make over 120 flavors of ice cream, frozen yogurt, and sherbet. Unfortunately, we don’t have the freezer space in the stores to display all 120 flavors at the same time. So, we have “regular flavors” that are always available in the stores and we have “rotator” flavors that are made on a “rotating” basis (every 4-8 weeks).

Does your frozen yogurt contain live active culture?

Yes, the culture is added after the pasteurization process.

What is pasteurization?

Heating or pasteurizing milk kills the bacteria present and makes it safe to drink. In the United States, federal laws require pasteurization of milk. The Federal Government has set the legal pasteurization time and temperature as 161.5 degrees for 15 seconds. At Braum’s, we go one step further by heating our milk well above these standards for a longer period of time to assure that it is free of bacteria and of the highest quality.

Why is Braum’s Fat-Free Milk sweeter than grocery store fat free milks?

Braum’s Fat-Free Milk has more natural sugar (lactose) per serving because it’s concentrated. Braum’s unique processing system allows us to concentrate our Fat-Free Milk.

Do you sell Braum’s Gift Cards and Coupons?

Yes, we sell reloadable Gift Cards in our stores year-round. If you are not close to a Braum’s store, please call our corporate office at 405-478-1656 to purchase a Gift Card. You can check your existing Gift Card balance, here.

Why aren’t milk prices the same in all your stores?

Milk prices are determined by a number of factors: the marketing area each store is in, the supply and demand of customers, available space for product storage, and the local price of other brands. We believe we have a superior product, and it’s our desire to set a fair, competitive price that will allow stores to increase sales and sell at its potential. This marketing strategy sometimes results in offering milk at a lower price in one store while another may remain fixed or even increase slightly. Our main goal is to provide the highest quality product at the best price in all stores.

Why don’t the Braum’s stores in Missouri honor milk coupons?

The Missouri Legislature forbids us to take milk coupons. The State Agriculture Department enforces the law. If you are unhappy with this practice, as we are, you should contact your Missouri State Legislator or the Agriculture Department.

Where are Braum’s Ice Cream and Dairy Stores located?

Braum’s stores are located in Oklahoma and parts of Texas, Kansas, Arkansas, and Missouri. Use our Store Locator to find a store near you in one of these states.
